What Pelagic Birds live along our coast and islands?          Part of the adventure of Pelagic Birding or Whale Watching is that every trip is different and we never know what we’ll find.  One thing we’ve learned over the years: the same conditions that attract whales also attract an abundance of pelagic birds. Regular pelagic visitors are listed below, along with what have traditionally been the “best” times to find each species. We do have rare and irregular visits from many other pelagic species also listed below. Regular visitors to our area  Best times to view Northern Fulmar October-March Pink-footed Shearwater April-October Sooty Shearwater April-October Black-vented Shearwater September-March Leach’s Storm-Petrel June-August Black Storm-Petrel May-September Red-necked Phalarope   Apr.-June & Aug.-Oct.
